Set in a remote research facility, it follows special agent Regina as she investigates a scientific experiment gone wrong. The game combines exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat against hostile dinosaurs. It uses a real-time 3D environment rather than pre-rendered backgrounds, distinguishing it from earlier Capcom horror titles. Dino Crisis is often noted for its emphasis on tension, limited resources, and fast, unpredictable enemies.
Released 1 July 1999 for Dreamcast, PC (Microsoft Windows), PlayStation and PlayStation 3 by Capcom Planning Room 2, published by Capcom and Virgin Interactive Entertainment. Rated 16 by PEGI, 15+ by GRAC. About 9 hours to beat, 10 hours for everything.
Story
A special commando unit is sent to a remote island, where a mad scientist, Doctor Kirk, has been researching a way to harvest energy directly from the air, causing an unimaginable disaster. Their goal is to locate a missing government agent sent to infiltrate the facility and spy on Kirk and his secretive dealings with the military. The team is led by Gail, a tough military type, but the player takes the role of his second in command, a capable redhead female commando named Regina. The team must find a way to survive in a secret government facility that is being infested by time-displaced dinosaurs, and return Doctor Kirk to custody.
