13 Nights in the Mortuary
"13 Nights in the Mortuary is a single-player, first-person survival horror and investigation game."
13 Nights in the Mortuary is a single-player, first-person survival horror and investigation game. Night guard Daniel Mercer works thirteen shifts at St. Dymphna Memorial, an underfunded thirteen-floor hospital that is falling apart. Each night he enters on the top floor, descends to the basement to restore the failing generator, and climbs back out before sunrise. There are no weapons and no HUD: the player has a flashlight, physical keyrings, a wristwatch and an evidence notebook, and nothing pauses except the pause menu. Players can survive all thirteen nights, or gather evidence across the building to uncover what is happening in the hospital mortuary.
Story
Daniel Mercer is broke, and the night guard job at St. Dymphna Memorial pays cash. The hospital, thirteen floors built into a hillside above the town of Harrow Falls, is on its last legs: underfunded, half-closed, and rotting from years of deferred maintenance. Its administrator wants it kept running just long enough to be sold off.
The work sounds simple. Each night Daniel badges in on the top floor, works his way down through the closed wards and plant rooms to the basement, gets the failing generator running again, and makes it back out to his car by sunrise. His only company is Ray, the retired guard who talks him through the building over the radio.
But the mortuary in the basement is not as quiet as the paperwork says, and something that happens on the first night stays with him. Over thirteen shifts, Daniel can simply try to survive until the job is done, or he can start reading the logs, the tags and the notes left behind, and work out for himself what St. Dymphna has been hiding.
